Vertical profile
Each band is a violin — the width is the distribution of the estimate.
■ surface — rooftop WS-5000 weather station, real per-reading spread.
■ vector — per-aircraft Comm-B winds (TAS/heading vs GPS
track). ■ statistical — ground-speed-vs-track fit;
violin = bootstrap uncertainty (tighter = more confident). Barbs point from the
wind's origin; half=2.5 m/s, full=5 m/s, pennant=25 m/s.

No wind data yet — needs
aircraft replying to SSR interrogation (Comm-B) or enough logged traffic for the fit.

No Comm-B vector
observations yet — normal in US airspace, where radars rarely interrogate the
BDS 5,0/6,0 registers this method needs (it's mandated in Europe). The decoder
is armed and will log them automatically if they appear; meanwhile the
statistical fit above does the work.
